Focus and Scope

The Journal of Computer Science Integration (JCSI) aims to publish high-quality papers with a specific focus on K12 Computer Science integration that are accessible and of interest to educators, researchers, and practitioners alike. Papers in this peer-reviewed journal may present work from various research orientations, such as empirical studies, case studies, historical analysis, and theoretical foundations. The journal will also occasionally publish commentaries and reviews dedicated to informing readers (specifically Computer Science teachers) about classroom-based materials and practices that draw upon the latest and most compelling research related to K12 Computer Science. JCSI is an open access, peer-reviewed journal. All content is freely available at no cost to users or their institutions, and that content is free from most copyright and licensing restrictions. There is no charge for submission to, or publication in, JCSI.  ‍

Publication Frequency

The journal is published online as a continuous volume and issue throughout the year. Articles are made available as soon as they are ready to ensure that there are no unnecessary delays in getting content publically available.

Special collections of articles are welcomed and will be published as part of the normal issue, but also within a separate collection page.

Open Access Policy

JCSI provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge. There is no embargo on the journal’s publications. Submission and acceptance dates, along with publication dates, are made available on the PDF format for each paper.

JCSI does not charge authors for submitted nor published articles on the principle that participation is open to all, not just well-funded authors. Authors remain the copyright holders of their work and grant third parties the right to use, reproduce, and share the article according to the Creative Commons license agreement. This license allows others to copy, distribute, display, and perform the work, provided that the original work is properly cited.

Authors are encouraged to publish their data in recommended repositories. For a list of generic and subject specific repositories that meet our peer review criteria, see here.
